Hemline too high?

I know plenty of teachers that refuse to wear dresses or skirts in the classroom. The fear is that sometime during lessons, the hem is going to ride high. There is a way to ensure this doesn't happen to you (see above). The goal is to have your hemline at a flattering, yet acceptable level. I prefer to only wear knee length or longer during the hotter months and only wear knee or above the knee lengths with tights and boots during the colder months.

This picture of Rachel Bilson shows the look that I like to go for during warmer months. I might switch the blazer out for a lighter cardi if it is too hot and sticky.

First day...

I remember being in school and trying to pick out the perfect outfit for the first day. It was always exiting, but nerve-wracking as well. I hate to say it, but I still feel this way. My first day of teaching is quickly approaching, and I am trying to put together some looks....

This dress from Banana republic seems like the perfect fit! I would love to have those glasses too, although I can't figure out where they are from.

What is Gilded Apple?

Hi! The name 'Gilded Apple" refers to my occupation. As a high school teacher, I have found that people expect you to lose your sense of fashion. I can't tell you how many people asked me what I was going to do with all the cute clothes that I wore while working in an upscale boutique. Admittedly, I even asked myself this question a few times. After my first year of teaching, I realized that you can work in an industry that values conservative dress, and still be cute!

I plan on posting about what I wear to work, things that happen in my classroom and any other fun things that inspire me. Hopefully, I can keep myself on task and update regularly.
